Finance is relational
(and so are we)

Creating safety to be yourself, and share without fear.

We know that money is messy, scary, and embarassing at times.

We want you to feel validated and normalized, and ultimately free to share as much as you're comfortable with.

We chose this work because we love it.

To help, support, and be trusted means the world to us.

It's not just about wealth; it's about the people we get to impact and watch out for.

Skeptical of 'the standard' advisor.

Finance has a ton of stigmas and stereotypes.

A lot of our folks don't feel trusting of 'the norm', and just default to DIY'ing even though that feels wrong.

All-in
Business Owners

We work with a lot of rad biz owners!

Some are small, some less small, but they are all dedicated to pouring resources + care into their biz babies (and might be wary of investing in the market...).

Want a different life(style).

Feeling trapped in a high-paying job? That's a toughy! Capitalism sure can be crushing.

Our people are looking for some super-duper number-crunching to figure out if they can leave, and maybe even survive on less income.

Philip

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™

After a twisty-turny + transformative previous life as a children’s theater teacher, Philip discovered a zest for financial planning. The ability to partner with ambitious folks to navigate major financial decisions? Yes. Bringing calm to the scary transitional up-down big changes in life? Double-yes. Following a [mostly unsatisfying] several years with small + big financial planning companies, he left, realizing there was a better, more connected, more transparent, and you know, less exploitative way to use financial expertise to support people. He’s also a proud co-creator and host of Two Cents, an accessible financial show on YouTube/PBS that explores the in-between but vital areas of life and personal finance. He’s *also* a doubly proud musician and leader of a rockin’ rock band, performing across Austin (but with that hair, not a total surprise, right?).

Julia

Certified Financial Therapist (Level 1)
Investment Advisor Representative

That belief that you have that being great with money relies on being a future-telling mathematical genius? Julia has some thoughts. And you’ll probably want to hear ‘em! Julia is the vivacious, relentlessly engaged advisor of your dreams (and capitalism’s nightmares?). As a neurodivergent enneagram 7, her unwillingness to go with the flow led her down a winding path of entrepreneurship and adventure. Her first twenty years saw her get a theater degree, marry Philip, travel through interior Mexico working on organic farms (I know…crazy) and start a successful online clothing company. At twenty two she took a sharp and fortuitous turn into the financial realms, learning to analyze the craziest of cash flows and credit reports during her time as a mortgage loan officer. This peek behind the curtain of the financial system made it abundantly clear to her that people’s financial outsides didn’t necessarily match their insides. Her professional mission became to create a more generous and joyous generation of people by helping them connect their outer financial behaviour to their inner reality. She brings a frank and firey spirit to her role as a trusted financial confidant, and values being a safe + collaborative partner in navigating deeply oppressive financial systems. Her clients have come to value her transparency, enthusiastic encouragement and straightforward communication style. She is a proud producer and co-creator of Two Cents, an accessible financial show on YouTube/PBS that explores the in-between but vital areas of life and personal finance.

The Dollar Is Losing Value! Should You Panic?

Some people are worried about the dollar losing value relative to other currencies. But others think it might actually benefit Americans.

Let's weigh the pros and cons!

Helen

Operations Manager

You want a firm run smoothly? Get a LIBRARIAN! Helen is *The* Master of Library Science (and has a degree to prove it) with over 20 years of experience in operations + admin. Solstice has been lucky to have Helen as a nearly-ground-floor teammate, joining us way back in year 02. Things we’ve heard about Helen (and can vouch for): “Her mind is a steel trap”; “she’ll follow up on your ass (in the nicest way possible)”. She’s thorough, organized, efficient, AND loves to travel (so, she’s worldly!). We’re a big fan of Helen’s, and we bet you will be too.

Your biz partner thinks we should talk...

If you're feeling lost or stuck, they can help!

They're easy to work with + worthy of our trust + business. My husband and I wish we had found a CFP as soon as we married; we would be much better off financially if we had jumped right into a financial plan and investing versus feeling unsure and stuck.

As you can see, we approach things differently.

Because financial planning can't be one size fits all.
